Barriers Burned Away by E. P. Roe - Barriers Burned Away was the first novel by E. P. Roe (1838-1888), who later bacame the most popular American novelist of his day. As with most of his novels, the plot is built on an actual historical event: in this case, the Chicago Fire. The book was originally published in 1873, and has remained in print for over 120 years. A movie based on the book was made in the early 1930's
