George Armstrong Custer and Sitting Bull, Warriors on the Plains

No two individuals epitomize the conflicts of the American West like George Armstrong Custer and Sitting Bull. These two men were the leaders when the White expansion into the west collided with the Native American lifestyles. The war between these two peoples lasted for nearly three decades starting with battles fought on the plains of what is now North Dakota during the period when the American Civil War raged in the east and ended with bloodshed at Wounded Knee in 1889.
