Many scholars of Chinese Religion tend to take an approach that divides the Philosophical-Speculative tradition of the Laozi and Zhuangzi era Daoist texts from that of later "religious" Daoism as epitomized in the T'ien Shr and T'aiping/Huang Jin Movement. This article attempts to reconcile the two.
