The Moderate White Man’s Race Manifesto

Racial identity in America has always been a source of contention. The Civil Rights movement waged its struggle in terms of historically disadvantaged black people demanding equal rights in an oppressive white society. After a brief period of resistance in the south, white people have generally come around to accepting some measure of guilt for race-based slavery, segregationist institutions, and lingering racism in American society.

But has this apology gone too far? The author thinks so. In his view, white people as a group have become the butt of malicious characterizations and policies put forth in the name of fighting racism. A new prejudice has arisen that is every bit entrenched as the old one. He thinks that white people should fight to reclaim their positive identity. But because whites are still the majority people, their struggle must be done differently. It should be more moderate and big-hearted than other people’s struggle. As the majority people in America, the fate of white people goes hand in hand with the fate of our nation.

This short book is filled with thoughtful remarks on who we are as white Americans and how we can pursue an improved identity.
