This story told by Homer is faithfully reproduced in such a manner as to furnish a guide to the real beauty of the poet's work, and we have pleasure in calling attention to this book as useful for interested in Greek mythology. The Illustrations add much to the beauty and value of this eBook edition.

The story in each case is substantially reproduced, much of what is found being a free translation of the Greek itself.

Alfred J. Church has made a spirited prose abstract of each of this immortal poem which will afford the young a good idea what the world-renowned poem, 'The Odyssey' is about, by its delightfully antique yet agreeable and vigorous style.

Church translates Homer with Homer's artless simplicity, and with no attempt of embellishment of his own and
has given the story (The Odyssey) in simple language, treating it so skilfully that it loses no interest in his hands.

This volume is intended for young people, and therefore while the author has produced the Homeric narratives with simplicity and an accurate study of the general features, he has apparently not deemed it necessary to follow all the peculiarities of Homer's language.

Sixteen wonderful illustrations by Flaxman are also included.
