If you have read Calhounies, you have already met some of the characters in this story. Some have expanded roles with a deeper back-story, while some have smaller roles or will not appear in these pages. (Hey, if they’re nice to me, I give them more work. If they’re divas, they might be relegated to a walk-on role.) You will also meet quite a few new characters who are making their debut as I continue to flesh-out the Calhoun microcosm.
This is not a juvenile story although children do play a major role in this tale. The two young boys who had supporting roles as comic-relief in Calhounies, have expanded roles in this story, but their tale intertwines with another storyline. (Hey, the kids worked cheap. All the virtual pizza they could eat!) It is a story about people and small towns—whether they be children or adults, rich or poor, good or bad, curmudgeonly or saintly, movers or shakers—folks simply caught up in events and problems both big and small. Cut open any community, big city or small village, and you will observe the mundane, remarkable, nefarious, and estimable if you look hard enough. I hope you enjoy these tales as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
