Torn between fulfilling her father's selfish demand for her to marry a man of his own choosing or clinging to the hope of someday experiencing the romance of her dreams, Lynnette struggles to stay focused on the real purpose of her urgent trip to Mexico. Unable to speak Spanish, Lynnette finds she may be in over-her-head, dealing with an extortion plot. Her inexperience becomes evident as she continually places herself in dangerous situations.

She meets Jake, a ruggedly handsome man on the airplane, whose very presence completely flusters her. While fighting the distraction he causes, Lynnette struggles to stay focused on her mission as she recalls the stern warning on her phone that morning warning her to come alone and to bring the cash! Convinced she must handle it on her own she stubbornly refuses Jake's help.

Jake finds himself thoroughly intrigued by this feisty, strong-willed woman. Ignoring his intention to take a break from women, he finds Lynnette impossible to ignore. Once in Cabo, he is repeatedly put into the position of protecting her, whether she likes it or not. As a world-class sailor, it doesn't take Jake long to realize that like a fierce storm at sea, this woman is almost more than even he can handle…
