THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW is the story of a superstitious school teacher (Ichabod Crane) pursued by the Headless Horseman. The ghost is ostensibly the restless spirit of a decapitated Hessian soldier, or perhaps its Crane's nemesis, Brom Bones, in disguise.
