The Laws of The Higher Life

We younger souls can know but little of these higher laws—"Laws of The Higher Life," as Annie Besant has called them — and therefore, hope to enumerate even a very few of them.

But the she gives us several hints as to where to look for them, and her suggestions will help us to gain a general idea of the kind of laws we may expect to find.

Devotion is the keynote to the whole symphony of right living. We receive the most explicit and direct instructions, the Laws of the Higher Life are given in the published theosophical literature, and if we do not live the life of Raja-Yoga, it is not so much the circumstances that are at fault, as that our interest is too fitful, and our insight all too hazy.

In the Bhagavad Gita we have the great Scripture of Yoga; the Kingly Science, the Kingly Secret, expounded in marvelous detail for the use of disciples.

In "The Laws of the Higher Life," The Laws of Duty and Sacrifice, as in "The Ancient Wisdom," "The Outer Court," "The Path of Discipleship," in every one of Annie Besant's books, and even in every Scripture founded on the "Teachings of the Masters of Wisdom," we find the Life to be lived, expounded for those that have ears to hear and eyes to see.

In all these teachings the fundamental principle is the same.
