On the laws of Japanese painting

The importance of On the laws of Japanese Painting has always been the text. Bowie captured the metaphysics of the art form before Zen Buddhism and Shintoism were known outside Japan. The illustrations, however, were small in size and poor in quality of reproduction. In this e-book edition the illustrations have been cleaned, sharpened, and color has been added where appropriate. Some of the illustrations of poorest quality have been replaced with illustrations that better communicate the concepts Bowie tried to express. In the Preface to this edition new information about the author and the effects of his life have been added.
