AN EXPLORATION OF EVIL is composed of three discret novels, UNION, REQUIEM FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN, for a total of about 1,100 pages. This has to be the book bargain of the cenutry.
UNION is the story of a beautiful New York poet who together with a dancer friend of hers tracks down the monster who is killing New York's fashion models. Detective Croft of the NYPD must eventually save the poet before the thrasher kills her.
REQUIEM OF THE MISBEGOTTEN is the story of a former U.S. president from the South who is found dead in front of his office building in New York at six in the morning. He is nude and has the word RAPIST written across his forehead in red lipstick. Detective Jimmy Croft is given the case by the mayor. The trail of the killers leads across the U.S. to Los Angeles and then to New Orleans. Still empty handed, Croft travels to London, Oxford, and finally Paris. What he finds is shocking to all Americans. And the price Croft pays for his knowledge is dear.
GRACE is the story of a New York editor who quits her job at her publishing house and moves upstate to finish her long novel. All is going well for Grace until her dog brings home the skull of an child. Eventually Grace, a German painter, and a brave female FBI agent subdue the Satanic cult which threatens to destroy Washington from within.
All three novels deal with deparavity in different manifestations. The writing is intended for mature, sophisticated adults who are not easily shocked.
