The Rise of the Synija

Elayna Arsand has defied the Dread Lord. Stealing the Spirit Sword and two of the three Elements of Power, the very Elements the Dread Lord is after, she flees his attack on Amulin City, only to become a fugitive in her own Kingdom. Now she must travel to the Temple atop Light Mountain to reunite the Spirit Sword with the Spirit Shield and become the Synija, the Defender of Life. But she cannot do it alone. She must find another, pure of heart and brave of spirit.

Elayna meets Devyn Idarraga, but the Sword warns Elayna that should she fall in love with Devyn, the Dread Lord will use their love against them and succeed in enslaving the Kingdom. Weary from her travels, and overwhelmed by the responsibility that is now hers, Elayna ignores the Sword's warning. But she knows before they reach the Temple, she will fall captive either to the Dread Lord, or to Devyn's love.
