Life a Millennium Ago

This story is fictional, but it accurately depicts England's culture in A.D. 1000 and is meant to provide a window on the life of the time. Life in medieval England was short and brutish, representative of much of the world at the time--but the English, having no standard of comparison, were happy and content withal.
