Thoroughbred racehorse trainer Sam McCollough and longtime employer UAE Sheikh Jaril Faroud purchase yearling colt, Diamond Band for $3.6 million, Sept 10, 2001, at auction, Lexington KY. Flying the racehorse to Dubai, the morning of Sept 11, 2001, 9/11, the plane is hijacked to Hong Kong by cohorts of leading Chinese mob boss, Tao Huang for $10 million ransom.

During subsequent weeks, McCollough, and exercise rider, girlfriend, Nancy McCallnenny, now stuck in China, struggle with helping Huang's trainer get the horse to the races at Sha Tin Racecourse, Hong Kong, or stealing the horse back for McCollough's employer, Faroud, pitting high-dollar bids of each against the other. The major concerns of the conflict are the murderous ways of both Faroud and Huang, and the fact that Faroud is possibly tied to the terror attacks of 9/11.

Interwoven within the fiction are the facts of 9/11, of the Saudis and UAE terrorists, and of the Bush Administration's relationship to all, including several characters involved in the racing industry, whose dollars might be supporting bin Laden.

As McCollough finally decides to kidnap the horse from Huang for the Sheikh, stealing and flying the horse back to Dubai, his plans are affected by mayhem as he attempts the heist. In flight, new intelligence comes to light regarding Faroud's intimate connection as 9/11 terrorist sympathizer and investor, which affects the final outcome.
