Persuasion (The Great Classics Library)

This is Jane Austen's last completed novel. It tells the story of Anne Elliot who, having broken off a match seven years before under the "persuasion" of those around her, encounters her old love again - now wealthy and a successful naval officer. The latter fact allows Austen to again exhibit her affection for members of the profession espoused by several of her brothers. Like most of Austen's works, this one too has found its way into pop culture, notably in "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason".
