This Halcyon Classics ebook collection contains H.G. Wells' classic time travel novella, THE TIME MACHINE and his short time travel story THE CHRONIC ARGONAUTS.
THE CHRONIC ARGONAUTS begins with a third-person account of the arrival of the mysterious Dr. Moses Nebogipfel to the peaceful Welsh town of Llyddwdd. The rural folk of the area grow to fear Nebogipfel and eventually storm the inventor's "devilish" workshop in an effort to stop the supposed witchcraft. Nebogipfel escapes with one other person—the sympathetic Reverend Elijah Ulysses Cook—in a mysterious machine.
Set in late 19th-century London, THE TIME MACHINE is the story of the time traveler, an English inventor whose time machine takes him to the year 802,701 A.D. In the future, the time traveler discovers the human race has diverged into two races, the sun-dwelling Eloi and the subterranean Morlocks. In order to escape the future, the time traveler must discover the horrifying relationship between the two groups.
