James's eyes darted around the room as he sought some route of escape - there were several exits from the room, quite close, but they were all trumped by the sword to his throat. The man must have been silent as he crept up behind him, somehow, in spite of the heavy boots he wore.

James exhaled slowly through his nose and raised his hands in a defeated gesture. The pirate nodded amiably and grabbed him by the arm, marching him silently along with his cutlass to his throat.

"You'll be a nice little bargaining chip for me, laddy," the man said, his rough voice whisper-quiet. James bristled, but kept his voice down.

"Bargaining chip? I'll have you know, my father will-" He began, whispering indignantly, but the pirate cut him off.
