THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK is a sub-plot and third part of the longer Dumas novel THE VICOMTE DE BRAGELONNE, third in the D'Artagnan romances (THE THREE MUSKETEERS, TWENTY YEARS AFTER). The story follows a conspiracy to depose Louis XIV, King of France, with his imprisoned twin brother, Philippe, the mysterious "Man in the Iron Mask."
