The Heinkel AG VTOL "Lerche"

By mid 1944, the Allies were bombing Nazi Germany back to the stone age, especially targeting the Luftwaffe airbases, airports and their runways. The Luftwaffe planners thought that they had a solution for the bomb-cratered runways...a fighter-interceptor flying machine which could take-off and land vertically (VTOL), thus who needed runways? This is the story of a proposed VTOL, the "Lerche" or "Lark".
