It's wartime. Bombs have dropped on London, killing civilians. One little boy is left motherless. Michael's father, Commander Jeffrey Norwood of the RAF, sends his son to the safety of the countryside while he battles in the air. Sister Catherine is one of the nuns who takes care of Michael. But after he's gone home again, he becomes very ill and is dying in a hospital. His father asks Sister Catherine to come to the hospital and take care of him again. It's here they meet and fall in love. But she's a professed nun and he must leave on a mission over the Pyrenees mountains. Sister Catherine is also sent on an assignment to Spain to save refugees who need help. Unbeknownst to the Commander, a Nazi spy has infiltrated his home to learn his secrets. The German SS traces Sister Catherine to Spain. The Basque doctor she works with learns the Nazi's are hunting for her and she must hide out in the mountains where the Commander's plane has exploded during an electrical storm. All appears lost until the doctor takes her to his friend's hut.
