OPERATION HERKULES is an Alternate History work of fiction concerning the Mediterranean Island of Malta during World War II. Malta served as a British air and naval base from which the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force attacked and destroyed supplies, weapons and reinforcements sent by the Germans and Italians to North Africa. General Rommel and his Afrika Korps were starved of supplies, especially fuel as a result. In this Alternate History German and Italian paratroop and amphibious forces invade the island, seizing it from Britain and thus securing the supply line to Rommel in North Africa. It is written as a novel, with historic persons blended with fictional characters. Through the eyes of these fictional characters we'll see the invasion of Malta take place. Kenneth Wiltshire is an American farm boy, flying as a volunteer Spitfire pilot from Royal Air Force bases on Malta. He falls in love with Maggie Reed, a beautiful and mysterious English girl working on Britain's most vital war time secret on Malta. Kuno Schact, German army major is drafted as a last minute replacement in the invasion force. He is tormented by dreams of his two young sons dieing in combat for the German Reich. Roland Webster, Royal Navy Gunnery officer finds peace only in combat from the remorse of his lost love Althea, killed in the Luftwaffe Blitz of London.
