The Life of Otho

THE LIFE OF OTHO is one of the most important ancient sources of history for the early Imperial period, as well as the life of Roman Emperor Otho. Marcus Salvius Otho Caesar Augustus (32-69 AD) was emperor of Rome for three months in 69; he was the second of four emperors to rule during that year. An early supported of Galba, Otho was instrumental in the assassination of Galba. Otho was proclaimed emperor by the Praetorian Guard, but he was opposed by Vitellius, commander of several legions along the Rhine.
