The Life of Vespasian

THE LIFE OF VESPASIAN is one of the most important ancient sources of history for the early Imperial period, as well as the life of Roman Emperor Vespasian. Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus (9-79 AD) was the fourth emperor of the "Year of the Four Emperors," (69 AD) and the founder of the Flavian Dynasty. After the succession of Vitellius, Vespasian was proclaimed Emperor by the eastern armies of Rome in July 69 and seized power from Vitellius after his assassination in December 69. Vespasian ruled Rome for ten years and was succeeded by his son Titus.
