Part of Book 6 of the Hind epic “Mahabharata,” “The Bhagavad Gita” is one the most well known Hindu texts in the world. It outlines the core beliefs of Hinduism through a dialog that takes place between Krishna (God incarnate) and Price Arjuna during one timeless moment on the battlefield in a war fought amongst the sons of Dhritarashtra and the sons of Pandu.
This book contains two English translations of The Bhagavad Gita, which was originally written in Sanskrit by an unknown author. The first version is the 1785 edition of The Gita translated by Charles Wilkins entitled “The Bhagvat-Geeta, or Dialogues of Kreeshna and Arjoon” (this work is widely credited as being the first text of the Bhagavad-Gita to be translated into English). The second version is the 1907 edition of The Gita put together by William Walker Atkinson (pen name Yogi Ramacharaka) entitled “The Bhagavad Gita or The Message of the Master.”
