This was the sixteenth Scarlet Pimpernel novel written, however, it is eleventh if read chronologically. It should be read after ELDORADO and before SIR PERCY HITS BACK. Sir Percy must find a way to foil the plans of an evil woman who is an executioner. She is bent on taking revenge on a family of aristos whom she feels wronged her sixteen years in the past.
