This was the eleventh Scarlet Pimpernel novel written, however, it is twelfth if read chronologically. It should be read after MAM’ZELLE GUILLOTINE and before THE ADVENTURES OF THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL. When Sir Percy saves a family of aristos from certain death via the guillotine, an innocent girl gets entangled in the plot. The trouble is, she’s the daughter of a highly placed official in the Revolutionary Government.
