In the Purgatory Inn, a group of immigrants strive to survive in an old Los Angeles tenement while trying to understand their surroundings and the challanges of a new and demanding life. In their minds and souls, the land of opportunity becomes a landscape that instead of offering a welcome, turns into a threat and the place where they live is the only solace they can count on.
