The Amateur Garden

Why read a gardening guide from 100 years ago? This nice little book still offers some ideas that you might use yourself in a modern garden, and also gives a view of the world before most of us were born. The book is a very enjoyable personal view of gardening early in the 20th century in Northampton, Massachusetts. The description of the town's annual garden competition is particularly descriptive. Not a classic but a small book worth reading.
