Titled The 55th State, as Mexico’s President Hernandez petitions the United States to join America. Shifting America’s course, President Jefferson is using his manipulative powers of his presidency to change the World’s power back from East to West. However, President Jefferson needs only one Senator’s vote for his vision to come true and he calculates that Joe Armstrong is how he can get that vote. Joe Armstrong starts out as the Secretary of State’s Chief of Staff but is re-assigned to the White House. President Jefferson gives Joe the authority to be the point man for this historic change and it doesn’t take long before he’s at the center of all the action.
America is in decline. President Jefferson wants to change it but how do you compete against 1.5 billion people. His solution begins with America needing a hero for this revolution someone who can deliver.
The 55th State is a 122,000 word completed manuscript telling the beginning story of President Jefferson’s vision and Joe Armstrong’s valiant actions as the President’s point man for historic change. The novel is fast paced set in the near future of 2053 and China is now the economic force in the world as America has deteriorated. President Jefferson’s strategy is to make America great again. As the world’s power shifts he begins by manipulating the newly elected Mexican President to formally request the United States to accept Mexico into the union as five new states. His only obstacle is getting the 66th Senator to vote for ratification as he seduces Joe as the key change agent. Retiring Senator Larsen who just so happens is Joe’s fathers best friend has been targeted by President Jefferson as the final vote. Using the state and local politicians greed as motivation for each has aspirations for a higher office and fall innocently in place to help his plan come true. In the end Joe comes through telling President Jefferson how the Senator will vote only to discover his true purpose for this change. The purpose, to build not just a new America but and Empire.
Any book that writes about politics, manipulation with action has some similarities but what separates The 55th State is no one has used this theory of adding states to America.
