Journey to Mars: Blood is Forever takes place about twenty years after book 1 as Catherine Martin has grown up in the shadow of her father Jason. They don't get along and do not see eye to eye. She gets one of her friends injured as she takes an unauthorized trip into the canyons to try to obtain a relic. He throws her in the stockade and she escapes. Catherine finds the artifact and she convinces Jason that they can go to Earth to assist with bringing Marsella to justice.
