It’s Not Over ‘til It’s Over is an inspirational book of poems and insightful anecdotes. A retired senior shares how she found a “New Beginning” through writing and recording life’s experiences with poetry. The book is an interesting read that enlightens the young and encourages those over sixty to realize that it is never too late to pursue your passion.

It is far from over
Life has just begun
Each day is a reminder
Rise, face the morning sun

A million tasks await you
Many big and some small
Another opportunity
To work thru them all

A lesson can be learned today
A child to direct
A friend to lend a listening ear
A baby to protect

So be attune and not regret
Those little urging moments
When something inside of you
Says get up! Sound the trumpet…..

The author’s love for poetry dates back to early childhood, as she remembers memorizing all of the Mother Goose nursery rhymes. She started to write after retiring from twenty-five years of teaching in the public school system. Feeling a need to “keep busy,” she enrolled in courses that offered classes in writing. The author has always enjoyed reading poetry. So, given the nature of the classes she attended, she tried her hand at writing poetry. She soon discovered that writing allowed her to release emotions and give voice to thoughts in print. Mrs. Kelly usually writes after witnessing or experiencing an event. The poem “Katrina” was penned after the event of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. She was inspired to write “Dare to Hope” after the 2008 Presidential Campaign and Barack Obama’s successful triumph in the democratic primary. Each selection has a message to hopefully inform, uplift, and inspire.
