Even at eleven, Copper knew there were many ways for the trips with her father to go wrong, but she never thought being captured by aliens was one of them. When she and her classmates go looking for Mayan artifacts, they are whisked away to a mysterious planet where they find the Mayan civilization alive and well. Still enjoying their stone-age existence, the Mayas live their lives under the care of their many gods, while the aliens over the hill are much more advanced, and spend all their time creating strange new plants and animals. Copper's not sure that she really wants to leave but in her quest to get the others back home, she secretly travels between these two worlds while trying to avoid the wrath of an angry god who is determined to keep them on the planet.
