After the Shaving and Waxing Party in the Sacristy Father Gordon decided that Sister Mary should acquire a tattoo. He made arrangements with a local tattoo party whose owner badly required Sister Mary's and his brand of "community service."

...decorate yourself like an artist's canvass, Father Gordon said when he came up for air. "I know just the man to do it."
And that was how Sister Mary Immaculate found herself, accompanied by Father Gordon, in the Body Electric Tattoo Parlor that Friday afternoon. The Tattoo Parlor was designed to look like a scene from I-Robot; futuristic, silver, round and dramatically antiseptic.
The owners name was Sterling Paul, which sounded to Sister Mary as if he'd been named backward, like maybe his mother had confused the last name first, first name last instructions on his birth certificate form. He was strangely hairless and long rather than tall. He reminded her of Florida Governor Rick Scott, which was not exactly a compliment. Indeed he looked somewhat alien, all the way to his large gray eyes.
Sister Mary and Father Gordon were enthusiastically welcomed by Sterling Paul, which seemed a little strange to Sister Mary. He seemed almost tense with excitement.
"I closed the shop at your request," Sterling Paul informed Father Gordon.
"Very good," Father Gordon replied.
"I prepared the studio for you," Paul said.
"Excellent," Father Gordon said again.
Sister Mary didn't understand the undercurrent of their conversation, although she was aware there was one.
"Would you care for a little wine?" Paul inquired, pulling the silver door closed behind them and gesturing to a round table in the corner of what was obviously the room in which he did his work.
"Wine?' Sister Mary inquired.
"To relax you for the procedure," Paul responded, giving her a crooked smile that seemed to stretch his tense face. He really did look like a character from a film about an alien invasion. After they had been seated and he had poured their wine into short round glasses, he asked, "Did you bring a picture you wished me to tattoo for you?"
"Well, no. Not really," Sister Mary stammered, mentally kicking herself for coming unprepared.
"There is a certain part of Sister Mary's anatomy I had in mind to cover," Father Gordon said. His throat sounded slightly constricted, which in Father Gordon's case was not particularly appealing.
"Here are pictures of my work," Paul said, handing them a thick three ring binder. "Please feel free to examine them to see if there is something that appeals to you. I have other books that I can use if there is nothing in this one."
Paul turned away from Sister Mary and Father Gordon and began to layout his needles and ink in preparation for his work.
It didn't take more that a minute for Sister Mary to find the heart.
"This," she said enthusiastically.
"Perfect," Father Gordon agreed.
"Oh. That's one of my favorites," Paul said once again giving the two of them his strange, tight smile.
"Would you like to sample the activity that brought about the decoration...?" Father Gordon asked. "I mentioned it when I called."
"Indeed I would," Paul replied giving Sister Mary a look she wasn't certain she wanted to interpret correctly.
"Mr. Paul is in need of Community Service, Sister Marry," Father Gordon said.
"Really?" Sister Mary said. Community Service was something to which she was dedicated.
"Yes, my dear, her told me that his wife left him several weeks ago and that he has been in deepest depression ever since. We have an opportunity to relieve his depression."
