Gulliver of Mars by Edwin Arnold

Originally titled LIEUTENANT GULLIVAR JONES: HIS VACATION, the story follows the adventures of a American naval officer transported unintentionally to Mars. There, Jones falls into several adventures, falls in love with a Martian princess, and struggles to survive on an alien planet. GULLIVER OF MARS probably served as inspiration for Edgar Rice Burroughs' BARSOOM novels.
