When the doctor asked 93-year-old Miles Bensing "Pop" Gress, "Did you expect to live this long?" he responded, no. The doctor empathized. "I know what you have been through; a body is not meant to withstand the toils of your time." In this deeply personal memoir, Pop's grandson Aaron wants the reader to pull up a chair and listen in on monthly conversations between grandfather and grandson over the last year of Pop's life. As they talked, Pop shared stories of living through the Great Depression, his World War II service in India, his life in rural Amish Country Pennsylvania, and insights on growing up and growing old.
