This is a short book (about 144 pages) on raising chickens written by Mrs. Harriet Anne De Salis. Mrs. De Salis wrote a number of practical, short books on poultry, gardening and cooking. Although written in the late 1800s, Mrs. De Salis's books are as relevant today as when written.

In her preface, Mrs. De Salis says, "Having been very successful in egg-production and poultry-rearing, which have been pursued entirely for pleasure, I think, perhaps, the little volume which I have compiled might be found useful to amateurs. I have studied all the best authorities on poultry-keeping, and listened to everyone's advice who knew anything about fowls, and have deduced from these authorities the systems I have found to answer best."

This ebook is the result of a hi-def scan of the original 1892 print version of the book. No changes have been made to any of the text.
