Ellen Anderson Gholson Glasgow (1873-1945) was an American novelist and short story writer. She published twenty novels and many short stories. She lived in Richmond, Virginia and at her family's Virginia plantation which appears in her writings. Her novels demonstrate her desire to progress from many antique customs of the Old Dominion and looked "beneath social customs, beneath the poetry of the past, and the romantic nostalgia of the present." She was a founding member of the Equal Suffrage League. Her novel The Wheel of Life was widely praised and compared with Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth.
