Havilah is a mystical, magical land which existed before the great flood. Like Pangaea or Atlantis many ancient civilizations speak of a great flood covering the earth. What was it like before the flood? Filled with Nephilim warriors, mages, gods from another dimension set on destroying our universe, and a Modern Day professor of ancient sumerian cuniform and culture, it is tale both of arcane magic and mind boggling technology. These were no simians crawling down from trees or out of caves but masters of arcane arts and science with so much power that they split the world apart and tilted the earth's very axis. Were they so much different from us?
A new museum of ancient antiquity opens in Boston. Professor Lewis Gilgamesh Kenan is taking his grandson Alexander Gilgamesh Kenan (better known as Gilly) to see an exhibition of ancient Mesopotamian artifacts. The old professor remembered the trips to Iraq with his grandfather, the renown archeologist who uncovered many of the articles on display. As the professor shows Gilly the ancient cuniform writing on some of the artifacts, a lightning strike power surge causes the museum to go pitch black. Before the back up generator kicks in, Gilly sees many of the cuniform symbols were glowing. On further inspection, it is discovered that hundreds of these ancient runes are actually electronic symbols and encoded in the writing is a circuit schematic. They return to the professor's home and build the simple circuit. Yet simple it is not, as the sun hits it, a holographic picture is projected above the circuit board. Thus begins an incredible journey into the ancient past for both the old professor and his 16 year old grandson.
Although this is a work of fiction, Kevin Daniel Keenan's love affair of ancient history weaves a tale both fantastical and at the same time believable in context. From the tales of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, the laws of Hammurabi, the mystique of ancient Egypt to the Biblical rendition of Noah, his research is both educational and enjoyable. As in modern times, these ancient characters fell in love, vied for power, raised families, went off to war and dealt with many of the same problems we face today. But at the same time, the tantalizing tales of magic and lost lore weave a fascinating possibility of what we are re-discovering today.
