THE NARRATIVE OF SOJOURNER TRUTH is the compelling, fascinating account of the life of one of America's most famous former slaves, Sojourner Truth. The narrative tells of her early life as a slave in New York state, then in the process of gradual emancipation. After her escape from bondage and final freedom in the late 1820s, Truth began to advocate for the nationwide abolition of slavery. She became an important figure in the Abolitionist movement, giving a number of well-received speeches condemning slavery.
