Single Fathers

Single Fathers follows four African-American male elementary school teachers, including Ray the eldest, a 33-year-old fifth grade teacher, Johnny, twenty-seven year old band teacher, Kevin a 29-year-old fourth grade teacher, and Fred the thirty one year old counselor. Ray, a recently divorced father of a seven-year-old daughter is contemplating getting back in the dating game after a six-year marriage to his college sweet heart. Kevin Love is on the verge of finding out that the little girl that he wasn’t sure was his, is actually his. As a matter of fact, the weekend that he gets his paternity test, and sees his daughter for the first time, his baby’s mother decides she wants to abandon her with Kevin. Johnny, the player of the group has a son, who’s mother he still sleeps with occasionally. He also sleeps with other women. His baby’s mother thinks that she is the only one, although she suspects that she is one of many. When she comes to the conclusion that she isn’t, all hell breaks loose; she even tries to stop him from seeing his son. Fred, the only one without a biological child begins a new relationship with a woman who has a son. He and the son get along great, but the son’s ex-convict father makes things difficult for them.

Ray, Fred, Johnny, and Kevin are good friends and good fathers, despite the obstacles (drama) that often get in their way of taking care of their children. Where many men would throw up their hands and walk away, these men are determined to be real fathers.
