Translating and Interpreting “El Aleph” by Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986)

Both translators and interpreters of Borges’ “El Aleph” make an apparently small, but critical error in their understanding of the mathematics of Borges. The translations and interpretations are corrected and the mathematical idea of infinity is articulated. A new understanding of the mathematics of infinity may lead to a refined interpretation of Borges’ “El Aleph.”
