Lethal Involvement

“I don't want to be a criminal,” I say meekly.
“Do you want to live?” my friend asks lightly.

It's the test of your life. In Zokwol, everything relies on your score on a
single test. If your life depended on it, would you rather be tested on
your intelligence, physical fitness, or artistic talent? Choose wisely,
because failure could cost you your life. The month you turn fifteen you
choose which one gives you the best chance of success, test against your
peers, and wait desperately for the verdict. If you are one of the top fifty
people scored in your venue, you head home to begin training for your
future career. If not, you are sent overseas to work for a year. Scientific
expeditions, mining, finding out about savage cultures, and more awaits
you. You'll have some magnificent stories to tell if you survive.
Unfortunately, your chances of survival are incredibly slim; only strong,
cunning, and sometimes lucky people make it home.

Cassidy, Casey, and Carmen Kroe are triplets preparing to take these
tests. Having already lost an older brother and best friend overseas, they
think they have good idea of what awaits them. But not all can make it
and their already ripped family is torn apart even further. Each sister
goes her separate way, each unknowingly becoming involved with the
same rebel movement. Along with their friend Caden and others they
meet along the way, they are forced to figure out where their loyalties lie
and uncover a lethal secret that's been hiding in front of them their entire
lives.
