People's Liberation Army Air Force pilot Han Decai was 17 years old when he started flight training. Six months later, with 60 hours of total flying time and 30 hours on the MiG-15, he was sent to the Korean border - to fly against the Americans, the hottest fighter pilots in the world. At age 19, Han became the youngest jet ace in history, and a national hero. After the war, he was assigned to fly MiG-17s, first to chase high-flying U-2s, later the low-flying intruders from Taiwan. He went on to senior commands, was promoted to lieutenant general, and appointed vice-commander of the Nanjing Air Command, one of the most important posts in the Chinese Air Force.
