Thornton Burgess wrote an entire series of Mother West Wind stories close to a hundred years ago. All are about animals and their adventures in Green Forest----Prickly Porky the Porcupine joins a number of others from previous books like Reddy Fox, Peter Rabbit ,and Happy Jack Squirrel. Even though this is a continuation of other books, the stories can stand alone. These were the bedtime stories my mother read to me in the 1940's; they are sweet, anthromorpic, and child appropriate.
