The Stick

Jim Altosa's first work of fiction explores the struggle of being human while simultaneously following the sorcerer's path. When Dan Jackson accepts a fetish-stick from his Grandfather, he feels a strange tingling in his palm. The eleven-year old somehow knows that things will never be the same. Later, he is introduced into the world of spirits in a sweat lodge ceremony with his uncle. The story continues through Dan's college and adult years where he is aided by an enigmatic sorceress and his complex yet troubled girlfriend. Working as a modern-day cowboy, he explores other dimensions and strange worlds of inner enchantment as he tries to maintain his equilibrium. What he ultimately finds out about himself is a surprise to everyone.
