Close friends converge at Lees Ferry to begin a private rafting descent down the Colorado River. Conflicts, from alcoholism and mental illness to infidelity, confront them as they navigate the challenges of the river. Will friendships forged through the years be strained beyond repair?

Lindsey hopes to begin a family while her husband Mike, bored with routine, seeks excitement. Summer must begin a new life with a father she's only seen during vacations and who must confront her fully-flowered sexuality. Others engage in marital warfare, seek sexual thrills equal to the rapids, or struggle to fit in as best they can.
