Why Prohibition!

This version of Why Prohibition was printed in 1918, which places the book in the middle of America's raging prohibition debate, and includes colored facsimile posters that were used to encourage support of prohibition.

The author believes that America's greatest peril is that of waste and the greatest waster in our country is the liquor traffic and provides reasons why one should support prohibition and join the fight against liquor businesses in an effort to abolish them. The book presents readers with a challenge to fight the saloons and liquor lords and discusses the amount of money spent on liquor, personal liberties and prohibition, organized labor as it relates to the saloon industry, social reform, health as it pertains to alcohol, taxation and compensation, substitutes for the saloon, and how prohibition works in practice.
