Perfect Imperfection

Poetry preceeded prose as artistic expression. Those orginial ancient poets had a story to tell and wanted their audience to understand it. Later poets turned the art form into a guessing game where only the elite could understand it, and they, only by agreement that it could mean whatever each reader wanted it to mean. Jim Rapp's poems follow the definiton of poetry as: "the best use of the best words." Jim poems instruct, inspire, amuse, challenge. If they baffle the read it is not because it was Jim's purpose to do so but only because he failed in his determination to use the best words in the best way.
