This version of Lincoln and the Episodes of the Civil War is a 1915 edition.
William E. Doster, the author, served as a solder during the Civil War, and while in the field and garrison, he jotted down, on the reverse side of field maps and on loose sheets of paper, memoranda of his experiences. At the end of the war (1865-1866), he wrote out these memoranda substantially in the form in which they now appear. Along with Doster's recollections of the Civil War, he also discusses the Lincoln assassination conspiracy trial in which he represented a conspirator, the Old Capitol Prison, and includes a lecture that he gave on Abraham Lincoln before Lehigh University.
