Art and Activism in Arundhari Roy:A Critical Study based on Spivak's Theory of Subalternity

Roy ventured into the realm of art with her debut novel The God of Small Things. She brought laurels to the country by winning the coveted Booker Prize in 1997 when India celebrated her 50th anniversary of Independence. Roy is the first non-expatriate Indian author and the first Indian Woman to have won this prize. She also received yet another literary distinction by being voted among the top fifty greatest women writers of all time for her Booker Prize winning novel The God of Small Things. Her novel is ranked 20th among the works of the top fifty women writers.
